Purpose: True Vine B uses a mixture of Catechists of the Good Shepherd and Feasting on the Word. We use these two curriculum to weave together the fundamentals and calm atmosphere of the Atrium and the lectionary story telling of Feasting on the Word. Our 1st graders get time to learn, explore, and do independent work. Having class for a hour and 20 minutes gives the children time to dig into every story and see how God is being revealed to them.
At the beginning of Spring our 2nd graders start to learn about communion. These classes are part of our Communion Recognition which is akin to First Communion in the Roman Catholic church. To learn more about Communion Recognition, CLICK HERE.
Classroom: The True Vine B classroom is in the lower level of St. Paul’s and is at the foot of the stairs. It is made to feel welcoming, warm, and easily accessible to children. The lesson and the teachers for the week are always listed on the whiteboard outside the door.
Time: Class goes for 9:15 AM to around 10:35 AM on Sunday mornings. Parents drop their children off at the classroom and then have time to chat or go to Bible Study. The children are brought up about halfway though service by their teachers in order to join their families for communion.
