Today we worked with Youth Rebuild New Orleans in the Tremè neighborhood to paint one of four houses they are working on. YRNO buys homes to resell to teachers at a lowered cost in order to create better stability in neighborhoods and provide a benefit for our public servants. Today a number of new youth interns were starting to learn building trade through YRNO.
After our morning painting we shifted gears to painting the interior of a school for struggling youth. i am amazed at how well all these youth work together. They are a great team and very considerate of each other while having a great time.
We bought one of the largest watermelons in the area, had a seed spitting contest, reflections on the parable of the mustard seed and shared our reflections of the trip with each other and ended the night with compline, four square, cribbage and hearts.
