Yes, but there are several good reasons for actually pledging.  By making a pledge, not only are you making a commitment but you are also helping us, as a church community, to practice good stewardship.  Pledges represent funds that we can count on as we plan out the following calendar year.  Because the majority of our operating budget is funded by parishioner pledges, your commitment of financial support for next year will help us make conscious, purposeful spending decisions as the 2012 budget is finalized in November and December.  Additionally, if you plan to deduct your gift, the IRS now requires documentation of cash contributions to charities.  If you prefer to pay by cash, consider submitting a pledge card and then fulfilling your pledge by putting cash in pledge envelopes that we’ll provide.  This will ensure that our treasurer will send you quarterly statements that you can use when filing your tax returns.
