The national Episcopal Church defines Christian stewardship as the “grateful and responsible use of God’s gifts in the light of God’s purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. Christian stewards, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit themselves to conscious, purposeful decisions.” At St. Paul’s, we consider ourselves to be “receivers who give.” We are guided by the understanding that all we have is a gift from God, and that what we call stewardship is simply a matter of giving back to God and God’s church. We must each determine how to use the many gifts we have received from God.
