Advent
In our Episcopal tradition, we begin our Church Year with the season of Advent.
Advent at St. Paul's begins the fourth Sunday before Christmas (In 2024, this is December 1) and will continue until the day before Chrstimas.
The word "advent" is from the Latin for "coming" and this season offers us an opportunity to reflect on hope and expectation as we mark a time of preparation for the coming celebration of the Incarnation at Christmas.
During this season, we are offering a special weekly program on Sundays - this multi-generational experience is about Journeying to the Inn Together and with all ages of our community we will be exploring how we connect with one another and with God on this journey.
We will also offer a Blue Christmas service of healing for those for whom this season can be difficult.
And, we continue our nightly online Compline prayer connections - Advent is a great season to enter into a practice of regular prayer each evening! Light a candle, pour a cup of tea and join us for 8 p.m. online Compline Prayer!
We invite you to enter into the mystery and the hope of this season as we journey towards our celebration of the coming of Christ into our world.

The Advent wreath, a visual symbol marking the Advent season’s progress, originated as a domestic devotion opportunity for household prayer and is now often included in community worship spaces. While there are many different ways to make an Advent wreath, Jerusalem Greer from Good News Gardens created this video making a wreath using items found in creation.
