Wild Hope: Weekly Lenten Connections

During the season of Lent, St. Paul's will be hosting weekly community gatherings & reflection based on stories from the book Wild Hope by Gayle Boss for all-ages! Each session will focus on one of the animals whose story is told in the book.
You can choose between joining together in-person on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. (followed by a potluck supper from 5:45-6:30)
- February 26, March 5, 12, 19 & 26
OR
(the same material adapted for virtual connection) online on Tuesday Evenings at 6:00 p.m.
- February 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28
In addition, follow-up resources and materials for further engagement will be posted on this website so that if you miss a session, you can explore the weekly program on your own or at home with your family!
During each session we will explore the story together - sharing thoughts and reflections on the chosen creature, the threats to it's existence and and on what the sacredness of creation can teach us about God, our own spiritual lives and what it means to commit ourselves, in hope, to the baptismal promise to "cherish the wondrous works of God, and protect the beauty and integrity of all creation." (Resources for Creation Care). Each session will include time for "Discipleship Engagement" where we can explore spiritual and social justice practices & commit ourselves to caring for creation and our time together will conclude with an opportunity to "catch hope" and share our Christian hope to a broken world.
No advance preparation is required!
While you are welcome to purchase the book (Paraclete Press * Amazon) - especially if you'd like to read on your own about the 20 or so animals whose stories we won't have time to read - that is not required.
We will provide you with all the materials you need to follow along with the stories each week!
In order to plan for this program we are asking those who are interested to sign-up so that we have a sense of how many to expect and so that we can send out follow-up emails with additional resources. Click here for sign-up form!
